Cross Country is a winter sport offered to both girls and boys from all year groups.
We meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for training and are often joined by CGS rowers to work on building a good aerobic base. There is the opportunity
to run across many terrains including grass, road, track, trail and beach. We do a variety of different workouts including intervals, fartlek, tempo,
steady and long runs.
The Cross Country fixtures take the same structure every season. The first competition is the NEBSSA’s which is then followed by the District, Ulster and
Irish Schools Championships, performance at each allowing progression to the next. Individuals must finish in the top 15 or teams must finish in the
top 3 for qualification for the next stage.
We have enjoyed much success at these competitions over recent years.
