Former Pupils Awarded Freedom of Coleraine

On Friday, 8th December, Causeway Coast Council honoured its three medal winning rowers from the London Olympics in 2012. In a ceremony presided over by the Mayor of Coleraine, Alan Campbell and brothers Peter and Richard Chambers were awarded the freedom of Coleraine. One of the many perks surrounding this ancient honour is the right to drive livestock across the towns bridges.
Alan Campbell (an alumni of one of our legacy schools, who grew up on a farm) at the earliest opportunity exercised his right to take a very amenable sheep for a walk across the towns bridge. Alan was flanked by the next generation of rowers from his old school and in weather that can either be described as festive this unique ceremony took place. In truth the only attendant who seemed oblivious to the cold was the sheep!
Congratulations to Alan and the Chambers brothers.
