New Pupils
+Are you in a class with friends from primary school?
Your Year 8 class may have some pupils you already know and you will make plenty of new friends very quickly in class and in activities.
+Do we get to choose the subjects we do?
All pupils will follow the same curriculum for 3 years and then make some choicies in what is studied for GCSE. At A Level (post 16) pupils and parents
choose their subjects with their career and university in mind.
+How many pupils will be in our class?
There will be 26 boys and girls in each first year class and 20 pupils in some practical classes.
+On which campus will my son/daughter be located?
Year 8 pupils, boys and girls, will be based on the Lodge Road campus in September 2016.
+What activites does CGS offer?
There are over 25 sports, clubs and societies currently operating in the two schools; everything is listed in the Transfer 2016 book. The list includes
choirs, orchestras, drama, rugby, hockey, rowing, athletics, cricket, swimming and cross-country. See you website link to our Sports and Clubs
+What AQE mark is needed to get into Coleraine Grammar School?
After consideration of claims for Special Circumstances and Special Provision, 156 places in Year 8 will be allocated to pupils on the basis of rank order
of their respective scores in the Common Entrance Assessment (CEA) provided by the Association for Quality Education (AQE); those achieving higher scores
being allocated places before those who have scored less. It is impossible to answer this accurately. A mark of 95-100 is our best estimate.
+What uniform will my daughter/son need to buy?
